No Deadline are thrilled to continue our workshop series this autumn, in collaboration with Danscentrum Väst.

The duo LEE\VAKULYA opens up ten years of shared creative space, a decade of making work and living inside the questions that collaborative creation demands. In this workshop, we share movement practices developed with our dancers to challenge how attention works, not just where it goes, but how it moves through the body and what it lets in. Moving solo and in shared dance, we take time with each task, guided by deep sensations and internal states rather than how the movement looks from the outside. Listening is the throughline here, engaging not only the ear and eye, but the skin, intuition, and senses that don't even have names yet. As our attention opens, listening reshapes what you can catch next time. Drawing on the strategies LEE\VAKULYA uses in their own practice, this workshop invites you to hear what movement - yours and someone else's - is doing, and to externalize your inner landscape with the power of imagination.

LEE\VAKULYA is a collaborative artistic duo company by Chen-Wei Lee (Taiwan) and Vakulya Zoltan (Hungary) based in Brussels, Belgium. They have been working together since 2016, creating several stage works and museum/gallery-format exhibitions and performances. Wei and Zoltan have been dedicated to slowly crystallizing their own approach to movement, which comes together from their own physical research, inspired and enriched by companies and choreographers they have previously worked with, such as Batsheva (IL), Voetvolk (BE), Hodworks (HUN), and Mal Pelo (ESP).Their artistic view is focused on the delicate relations between human beings and society while touching on vulnerable issues on the questions of boundaries and proximity, they push the limits of partnership and empathy.With the different stage works they have created, they had won awards from Taishin Performing Arts Award 2023, TECO Award for the Art of Dance 2020, and the Jeon Mak Arts Award 2017, and were nominated for Total Theatre Award 2017 (United Kingdom), Best Choreographer for the stage work Mephisto (2022), commissioned by the Serbian National Theater etc...

ZANDER CONSTANT

Zander Constant grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he began his dance training at Arts Umbrella.
He started his career with Ballet BC and has since worked as a guest artist and company member across Europe and Canada, including with Aszure Barton and Artists, Alan Lucien Øyen's Winter Guests, Landerer&Co, and OfCuriousNature. Since 2021, he has been a dancer with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. Throughout his dance career, his work has moved fluidly between dance, spoken word, theatre, and live music, always circling back to embodiment as a core artistic focal point: how text, sound, and physical presence can exist in the same body at once.

For Zander Constant, movement and spoken word are not necessarily two languages layered on top of each other, but rather one coherent act of embodiment. In this workshop, he shares the tools he's developed for letting text come alive, making words physical and movement articulate.We will learn repertoire that fuses contemporary movement with live spoken text, then unpack the techniques behind it: how to stay present and natural on stage while working with voice and physicality simultaneously. From there, we turn to creation, crafting our own solos that weave together text and movement, guided by the same instincts for presence and authenticity that define Zander's own creative voice.
