WORKSHOP WITH ZANDER CONSTANT

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

For Zander Constant, movement and spoken word are not necessarily two languages layered on top of each other, but rather one coherent act of embodiment. In this workshop, he shares the tools he's developed for letting text come alive, making words physical and movement articulate. We will learn repertoire that fuses contemporary movement with live spoken text, then unpack the techniques behind it: how to stay present and natural on stage while working with voice and physicality simultaneously. From there, we turn to creation, crafting our own solos that weave together text and movement, guided by the same instincts for presence and authenticity that define Zander's own creative voice.

BIO

Zander Constant grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he began his dance training at Arts Umbrella.
He started his career with Ballet BC and has since worked as a guest artist and company member across Europe and Canada, including with Aszure Barton and Artists, Alan Lucien Øyen's Winter Guests, Landerer&Co, and OfCuriousNature. Since 2021, he has been a dancer with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. Throughout his dance career, his work has moved fluidly between dance, spoken word, theatre, and live music, always circling back to embodiment as a core artistic focal point: how text, sound, and physical presence can exist in the same body at once.
