Y-OTIS is the inevitable love child of Otis Sandsjö and Petter Eldh’s restless musical collaborations.Y-OTIS – carries a sound in constant motion: fluid, genre-defying, impossible to pin down. It is music that is simultaneously danceable and rhythmically complex, dissonant yet effortlessly melodic.The 2018 self-titled debut introduced a new musical language, and with Y-OTIS 2 (2020, We Jazz Records) they pushed it further – a hypnotic weave of fragments, loops, and grooves, always shifting and unpredictable. Y-OTIS TRE (2024) continues the journey, opening yet another chapter in Sandsjö’s and Eldh’s vision of liquid jazz – an “audio mosaic” drawing equally from hip-hop, electronica, and jazz, where saxophone riffs ripple like waves, melodies emerge and dissolve, and funk beats drive the current. Always in flux, Y-OTIS stays playful, multi-layered, and firmly future-facing. Alongside Sandsjö and Eldh, the band features the explosive live energy of drummer Jamie Peet and keyboardist Daniel Nicholls. On stage, Y-OTIS collectively builds a space where the material is constantly evolving — reshaped and twisted through rapid drum breaks, deep synth bass, and split saxophone harmonics.
