Ingeborg Zackariasssen’s MFA in Contemporary Performative Arts
Exam performance at 3:e Våningen, Gothenburg
Performers:
Anna-Greta Himmer, Emelié Sterner, Toby Kassell, Fan Luo.
This installation/performance explores interrelations between words and imagination; the artistic imagination of multiple people gives space for new iterations. For two years a method has been developed, and a series of places and movements have been evoked in dialogue with invited artists. Different aspects of the work are juxtaposed and interweaved between rooms; Photographic portraits of a collection of individuals are paired with spoken text feeding in from somewhere else. Four performers reinterpret the imaginations of others, each following their own individual performance score. Together, yet each on their own, the performers’ bodies become sites where the various imagined places and movements of others are embodied, reimagined, and developed through a live, explorative composition.

PART I:
(15 min)
Inside a Gallery space there are bricks laid out in different constellations. There are black and white photos on the wall and on the floor. After a while, a performer enters and rearranges the bricks…
Performer: Anna-Greta Himmer
Photo and video documentation: Melina Bigale
PART II:
Inside a blackbox, there are 3 performers. They have been talking in microphones for 15 min, their sound feeding into speakers in the white cube.
They start a journey of deciphering their individual performance scores together with the text fragments they have been given… On a clothes rack in the back of the room there are a bunch of costumes, which they are instructed to use. They have been given limited guidelines. They are on their own in this situation of improvising a piece, stitching together fragments…
A small reflection of the absurdity of life.
